Make your happiness unconditional

December 20, 2019

Are you really happy? Or you are attached to what you think you should have or who you think you should be ( a perfect job, the perfect partner, your perfect version of life, the perfect home) for you to be happy. Take a pause in your quest of happiness and just be happy in this moment. Are you ready to make your happiness unconditional?

“ Make your happiness unconditional. Don’t attach milestones to your happiness (no strings attached to a perfect job, the perfect partner, your perfect version of life, the perfect home, the perfect vacation, etc.).”

Conditions we attach to being happy

Many of us attach conditions to our happiness. Most of us are at one of these steps below or something similar and we keep thinking I will be happy when …(I get the perfect job,   the perfect partner, my perfect version of life, the perfect home, the perfect car, or I have 100 k in my bank account, etc.). We all know me we get excited when the milestone arrives but then start seeking something else and our mind is still not in peace or state of happiness. The only way to be happy is to be happy right now unconditionally (have a pleasant state of mind right now). Below are some of our thoughts / conditions around happiness:

I’ll be happy when I get a decent job.

I got a decent job but I’m not ready to get married yet. My parents want me to get married, I feel the pressure. So I am unhappy.

I want to get married but no girlfriend.

Ah! I had a breakup. How can I be happy? I always think of my past girlfriend.

I just got engaged and I worry about finances for running the family. I don’t have enough savings.

I can’t sleep at night. My baby keeps me awake all night. Never knew life is so tough as a parent of a newborn.

So much resentment from my spouse. Relationships are painful.

Things are ok at home but the economy is not doing so well. I am stressed about providing for the family.

Hey, I am worried about retirement.

I am scared to die I never lived fully.

Finally !! Death arrives.
